A faster route to public article copies.
PaywallUnlock is a focused utility for finding public archive snapshots and alternate indexed copies of article URLs.
Why we built it
Useful reporting often becomes difficult to locate after links change, pages disappear, or access rules shift. PaywallUnlock gives readers one place to check several public routes instead of manually rebuilding the same searches.
What the service does
We clean the submitted URL, check whether the Wayback Machine reports an available snapshot, and generate direct searches for independent archive and search providers. The final destination remains controlled by those third parties.
What the service does not do
PaywallUnlock does not host article bodies, log into publisher accounts, decrypt content, or promise that a public copy exists. It is a routing tool, not a publisher or archive.
Support journalism
Archives are useful for preservation and research. Readers who regularly use a publication should support the journalists and organizations producing that work.
